So I don't think it's a huge secret that I'm fairly unhappy with my career as of late. (Notice I didn't say my job. Maybe more on that later.)
That being said, let's explore my options. I have a couple of passions.
-Technology and invention
-Debate, politics, investigation, and law
I do really love the technology field, but I think I might look into going back to school for a law degree. I could always do something tech-related on the side or just as a hobby. It might be nice to actually make a difference somehow. I have a few reservations, though.
I'm 25. I would be in my early 30s by the time I got my degree. How long should one expect to "work your way up" after graduating with a law degree? When do you pick your specialization? I assume it is after you graduate.
Anyway, just something I've been kicking around in the back of my mind. I plan on doing some research, and possibly talking to the counselors at the University and garnering opinions. We'll see what happens.

Do whatever makes you happy. Forget your age. I am 25 and pursuing real estate investments. People think I am too young to be doing this. Frankly, it is just a number... unless you are talking about dating a 13-year-old. In that situation, age is significant.
You do not know at what age you will die (unless planned and your plan pans out), so you do not know what 25 or 30 means to you. Age 25 is not a fixed distance from death.
I say go for it if it will make you happy.
Ya know James....I don't think that is crazy at all. I'm actually really proud of you for evaluating a career rather than a job.
I am the youngest person in my program and there are plenty of people who don't start degree programs for law/med school/grad school or whatever it is until later. Actually a friend of mine was unhappy with where her job was taking her. She was a graphic designer but wasn't ever getting to actually design anything. Last year she took the plunge and moved to Seattle to attend a very good arts school. She is 28 years old.
There are people in my program older than my mother and people in Wes's program that could be our parents.
Very rarely do we end up doing exactly what is "expected" of us by society. Right now you are seen as a tech guy, well so what. You can be a tech and law guy. I was supposed to rock corporate America or dominate the fed but that isn't what I wanted.
Something I was always told growing up was this "Calling is where the world's greatest need meets your greatest desire." So don't feel like you have to keep doing what you are doing because it is what is expected of you or some such nonsense.
Follow your bliss.
